Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I copy recipes from other sources and post them to this site?
No. The recipes that you post should be your own or those given to you by relatives or friends who give you permission to share them with other CookingSpace users.Who owns any recipes that I post on CookingSpace?
You own the Copyright for any recipes, blog posts, and comments that you create on CookingSpace. You agree that all recipes, blog posts, and comments that you create on CookingSpace are licensed using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 United States License. This means that other people may reuse your recipe as long as they give you credit for it. For example, if someone uses your recipe in a newsletter they need to give you credit, but then they can use it free of charge.I notice that recipes provide nutritional information. How accurate is this information?
The accuracy of this information is limited for three reasons:- We used multiple studies from the USDA to determine base line nutritional values for food ingredients. Many of these studies vary greatly in their reported results.
- The way food is cooked affects is nutritional value. Our system works by having baseline values for ingredients, by amount. Cooking instructions in recipes are not factored into the nutritional information displayed with recipes.
- When we enter your recipes into the system for you, we need to make judgement calls on which ingredients from the USDA database that we use. For example: there are many entries for chicken depending on type, whether skin and bones are included, and how it is cooked. We make our "best effort" to choose the ingredients from the database that most closely match the desciption of ingredients in submitted recipes and how they are cooked.
